Dhanbad Jan 7: Two members of a family (grandfather and grandson) lost their lives on Friday morning due to food poisoning in Parvatudih village under Debri block, around 51.2 km away Giridih district headquarter. Six other members have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Giridih civil surgeon Dr SP Mishra said that the condition of the admitted family members is critical.
“They are under treatment at the community health centre (CHC) Debri and if required, they could be referred to Sadar hospital,” said Dr Mishra.
A team of doctors from district headquarters has also been sent to CHC to attend to the critical patients.
Debri police station officer-in-charge told media persons that those who died were identified as Kallu Rana (60) and his grandson Bipin Kumar (14).
“Neighbours of Kallu Rana said that all eight members of the family had eaten fish and rice for dinner. Today, when they did not wake up till late morning, the villagers broke the door of the house and found all of them lying unconscious. They got them admitted to Debri CHC immediately where doctors declared Kallu Rana and Bipin Kumar brought dead. Six other members of the family are under treatment,” said Santosh Mandal, officer-in-charge of Debri police station.
Police officials also said although neighbours claim it as a case of food poisoning, the reason of death could be confirmed only after getting the post mortem report. He further added that police are investigating the place from where they had brought fish.
