New Delhi, Aug 31: Two people from Punjab have been arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell on Thursday in connection with pro-Khalistan graffiti and slogans painted at more than five Delhi metro stations on August 27, officials stated.

The police stated that more investigation is being done.

Previously, authorities had filed a case following the discovery of defaced walls at multiple metro stations in Delhi with pro-Khalistan markings. This incident occurred ahead of the upcoming G20 Summit, scheduled to be held in the capital city next month under India’s leadership. This information was shared by the police on Sunday.

The case has been filed under Section 153 A, Section 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and the Defacement Act, a Delhi Police official stated.

“We received information about slogans at Nangloi PS at 11 am. A case has been registered, and an investigation has been initiated. (Slogans) have been written at 4 metro stations. A case registered under sections 153 A, 505, and the Defacement Act,” Commissioner of Police (Metro) G Ram Gopal Naik said.

Prior to the G20 Summit, suspected Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) activists defaced many metro stations with pro-Khalistan slogans, raising security fears. SFJ is a front organization for the separatist Khalistan Group.

In images posted by the Delhi Police, the phrases “Delhi Banega Khalistan” and “Khalistan Zindabad” can be seen written on the walls of Metro stations.

“Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) also released raw footage of Delhi Metro stations that were defaced with pro-Khalistan slogans,” an officer said.

“Suspected SFJ activists defaced multiple Metro stations in Delhi—from Shivaji Park to Punjabi Bagh—with pro-Khalistan slogans,” the officer added.

They were taking the required legal action after verifying that Metro stations had been defaced.
