Ranchi, Feb. 15: Two top-ranking extremists of the CPI (Maoist) Suresh Singh Munda and Lodro Lohara are learnt to have surrendered before Jharkhand Police about two days back. Well-placed sources said that Suresh Munda is the zonal commander of the CPI (Maoist) who carries a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh on his head. Lodro Lohara is an area commander who carries a reward of Rs two lakh on his head. Both of them operate in the Porahat sub-zone of West Singhbhum district. But the police have not officially declared their surrender.
Earlier in August 2018, the Jharkhand government had attached the property of Lodro Lohra who was wanted in over 20 cases of Naxal crime. Similarly, Suresh Singh Munda was wanted in over two dozen naxal cases.
Notably, in the past couple of months, the Naxal incident has increased in the Kolhan division including an attack on former BJP MLA Gurcharan Nayak at Manoharpur in West Singhbhum. The extremists looted the firearms of the three of his bodyguards and killed two of them, Shankar Nayak and Thakur Hembram.
Last month, a wanted Maoist zonal commander Maharaj Pramanik surrendered before the police who was wanted in more than 120 cases of loot, extortion, murder, and levy collection.
