Ranchi, Feb.1: State Finance Minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon said that the general budget of 2022-23 presented in Parliament has left the public deeply disappointed.
Responding to the Union Budget, Dr. Rameshwar Oraon said that the budget is like fictional literature. Earlier there was talk of two crore jobs, now 60 lakhs have been talked about in the budget, while the reality is that the wrong policies of the central government pushed 6.4 crore people into extreme poverty in 2020.
Oraon said that there was a lot of hue and cry that such a budget would happen after Corona but as a member of the government, we can say that the common people will be poorer.“How will the inflation-stricken people get relief, how will the farmers’ income be doubled. The government has not shown any interest,” Oraon said.
The Finance Minister said that the truth is that there has been a decline in the real income per capita annually.
“In the year 2020-21, the per capita income has come down from 17589 to Rs 16975. In Amrit Kaal 2022-23, where 80 crore people are dependent on government free food grains, they did not see any clear vision to lift them out of poverty,” he maintained.
Citing an Economic Survey data, the finance minister said that there was a tremendous jump in the income of the government but income of households in India has decreased.
“There is an increase of 64.9 percent in revenue compared to 2020, while according to the Oxfam report, the income of 84 percent of the households in India decreased during 2021,” he said.
He said that despite the Robust Tax Collection Period, no relief has been given to the Income Tax payers. Presently in NPS, there is a minor relief for a government employee to deposit 10 per cent amount on his basic salary plus DA to 14 per cent.
He said that there was a big expectation of relief on principal payment and interest payment in the Health Insurance Policy Premium Standard Deduction Limit but everyone has been disappointed.
Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh said that the budget is not for the poor.
“In the budget it has been said that diamond jewelry will be cheaper, this makes the vision of the government clear. The period of GST compensation to be given is about to end, all the states had requested finance minister Sitharaman to extend it for the next 5 years and such a letter was also written by Dr. Rameshwar Oraon, but the union government took it for granted and did injustice with states like Jharkhand,” Patralekh said.
State Congress senior leader Alok Kumar Dubey said that the government remembered farmers settled on the banks of the Ganges in the election year.
“Before the UP election, the union government while presenting its budget in 2017-18 had talked about doubling the income of farmer by 2022 was but no update was found in the budget speech,” Dubey said.
