Lucknow, Jan 30: Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday would file his nomination papers from the Karhal constituency in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri.
“Akhilesh Yadav will reach the collectorate on January 31 and file his nomination papers. Preparations are almost done to file nominations of other three SP candidates with him,” said Rajendra Chaudhary.
Interestingly, he is running for the first time in the Assembly from Mainpuri, a bastion of the SP. Other SP candidates will also file nominations along with him.
Surprisingly, the BJP is yet to name a candidate to run against Akhilesh in Karhal. There have been rumours that the BJP may field Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav, who just joined the saffron party in Delhi, as a candidate.
Sources close to Aparna Yadav, on the other hand, have ruled out such a possibility.
Notably, the third phase of the election in Mainpuri is on February 20, and the deadline for filing nominations is Tuesday.
