Ranchi, May 31: Monday saw the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) releasing results of UPSC CSE Examination 2021. It also brought good news for more than 31 students of Jharkhand who cleared the UPSC examination this year. It is noteworthy that most of the successful candidates have an engineering background. Among these, Shruti Raj Lakshmi of Kanke Road, Ranchi was declared the state topper of Jharkhand with an AIR 25.
Shruti, notably, cleared her 10th from Loyola School, Jamshedpur and 12th from DPS RK Puram, Delhi. After this, she studied Computer Science from BHU IIT in the year 2019. Her father Anand Kumar is an advocate in Jharkhand High Court while mother Preeti Rani, works in the Social Welfare Department in Ranchi Secretariat.
Explaining her journey, Shruti said, “This was my second attempt. In my first attempt I could not even clear the UPSC PT. Talking of preparations.”
Shruti added, “I would study for eight hours every day and most importantly, I stayed away from social media so that I could concentrate. I would not even use WhatsApp and only use the net for current affairs and notes for preparation.”
Shruti further said that she believes in self study and she attended coaching only for test series. She also did not pick up a cart load of books; instead choose a selected number of books.
Talking of her first attempt, Shruti said that she gave her first civil services examination while graduating from BHU IIT, however, because she was unable to clear it then, she worked for eight months in Bangalore.
Her father Anand Kumar said, “Today our hard work proved fruitful. My daughter has brought laurels to the family.”
In a message to future aspirants she said, “Never bring negativity in yourself. Keep a positive attitude and move forward. Never run after books. Always read a select few and make your own notes. Also, give importance to the test series.”
Apart from Shruti, other students from Jharkhand that cleared UPSC this year include Utsav Anand from Deoghar who secured the second position in Jharkhand by securing AIR 26. Ravi Kumar from Giridih who scored 28 AIR, Namrata Chaubey from Gadhwa ranked 73rd and Aayush Venkat who scored the 74th rank.
Notably, the UPSC CSE preliminary exam was held on October 10, 2021, and the results of the examination were released on October 29. The main examination was conducted from January 7 to 16, 2022, and the results were declared on March 17, 2022. The Interview was the last round of the examination which began on April 5 and concluded on May 26.
