New Delhi, Aug 30: Ahead of the 2022–23 season, veteran Indian bowler Varun Aaron has parted ties with Jharkhand, his home team. Aaron, who has been with his state side since 2004, made his debut for Jharkhand in 2008 and was one of the spearheads of the bowling attack.
Prior to Ishan Kishan being appointed captain, Aaron also led Jharkhand in MS Dhoni’s absence.
Aaron said that he would be saying goodbye to his domestic life, where he had experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, met some amazing friends, and gone through a wide range of emotions from the elation of triumph to the disappointment of defeat. Additionally, Aaron disclosed that he would be joining Baroda as of this season.
“Goodbyes are never easy!! I find it incredibly hard to put down my feelings as I walk away from what’s been a huge part of my life , The Jharkhand cricket Team. I have decided to part ways and move on to play for Baroda in the upcoming domestic season. Leaving behind a journey that has been instrumental in my evolution as a Cricketer and Human. Friends, brothers, the highest of highs, the lowest of lows, incredible victories , crushing defeats, blood , sweat , tears and a few broken bones along the way .. if I had a chance to rewind the last 18 years, I would and do it the exact same way,” Aaron wrote.
Aaron, who was a member of the Gujarat Titans team that won the IPL this year, congratulated his colleagues, trainers, and the two founding members of the JSCA, the late Amitabh Choudhary and Rajesh Verma, while wishing the Jharkhand team the best of luck.
However, the 32-year-old is not the only player to abandon his home team this year. Siddesh Lad and Arjun Tendulkar, two former cricketers from Mumbai, joined Goa as player-mentors, while experienced India and Bengal wicketkeeper joined Tripura. Aditya Tare, a veteran from Mumbai, also made the decision to join Uttarakhand and leave the domestic side.
