Washington: Vinay Mohan Kwatra officially assumed his position as India’s Ambassador to the United States on Monday. In his new role, Kwatra will lead efforts to enhance the significant partnership between India and the US.
“Privileged to assume charge as the Ambassador of India to the United States of America. Team @IndianEmbassyUS will continue to work intensely to strengthen this crucial partnership,” Kwatra shared on X (formerly Twitter), reflecting his commitment to deepening ties between the two nations.
A seasoned diplomat, Kwatra brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He previously served as India’s Foreign Secretary and has a strong background in international trade, having earlier served as the Minister of Commerce at the Indian Embassy in Washington.
Kwatra succeeds Taranjit Singh Sandhu, who has been a key figure in fostering the growing relationship between India and the US. As the new ambassador, Kwatra is expected to continue building on the momentum set by his predecessor, furthering cooperation across various sectors, including defense, trade, and technology.
