New Delhi, June 16: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) denied giving the mobile game PUBG any type of recognition on Thursday.
The statement came after the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) issued a letter to the Information and Technology Ministry and the IOA, requesting an explanation for how PUBG is being downloaded on mobile phones by children despite the government’s ban.
“No, IOA doesn’t give any kind of recognition which is against the country and the law. We dont allow them to promote any kind of violent games. Yes, that’s true that Esports came to us but we haven’t given them any recognition,” said IOA chief Narinder Batra.
On the other hand, NCPCR chairman Priyank Kannongo said that they have written a letter to IOA also and want an elaborate answer from them. If they claim that they haven’t given any recognition to PUBG, then they have to brief them in a written manner.
The authorities is concerned about mobile games like PUBG since they have caused countless incidents. Notably, a16-year-old boy who was addicted to mobile gaming recently killed his mother for criticising him about his PUBG addiction.
