Daltonganj, Feb 15: Medininagar Municipal Commissioner Sameera S, an IAS officer, today asked the defaulter PM Awas Yojna (Urban) beneficiaries to complete their house construction failing which there will be FIRs and certificate cases too under the Public Demand Recovery Act. This came to the fore as she was addressing a press conference in Daltonganj.
“We have 200 such houses under this Yojna lying in limbo since the financial year 2015-16. Such defaulter beneficiaries can’t get away now,” she said.
Sameera S looked highly perturbed by the reports coming regarding the corruption in the PM Awas Yojna (Urban) here.
She promised to take stern action against the errant personnel, saying that while there have been discussions about corruption and malpractice, there is yet to be a single written complaint of corruption in this housing scheme filed with the municipal commissioner’s office.
According to her, as for the current financial year 2021 -22, approval has been given for 2,497 houses under this scheme.
She conceded that given the enormity of the task and target, there is a possibility of some grey things surfacing in it which she and her team will try to plug.
Apart from this, for better surface water management, a total of ten ponds in the municipal wards will be desilted and deepened.
On the issue of the Koel River’s situation, she said that the lack of suitable land for a sewage treatment plant on the bank of the river Koel is getting in the way because of a lot of drainage pools in this river.
The bank of the river Koel will be dotted with gazebos on the pattern of the Sabarmati in Gujarat.
“With the untied fund of the 15th finance tender notices for the big drainages will be issued soon,” she added.
She also said that the location has been identified for a multi-storied vendor market in Daltonganj. There is also a plan to set up a solid waste management plant some far away from the town at Kinni.
Other than that, she informed that bankers have been roped into the maintenance of the statues and other such structures in the town under their corporate social responsibility.
A playground will be provided by the Medininagar municipal corporation for an affiliated school.
She discussed plastic management in a few schools as a starting point, as well as the swachhta protocol’s downsizing to street vendors.
She also emphasized that the roads in the municipal corporation wards need to be strengthened.
Assistant Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Singh was also present at the press conference.
