Hazaribag, Dec.13: The working president of the state congress Shahzada Anwar and Bajrang Mahto, husband of jailed Ramgarh MLA Mamta Devi said they will challenge the verdict of lower court in Jharkhand High Court.
Moreover, Shahzada termed the sentence of Mamta a political conspiracy claiming that the present MP and officers of the factory connived in trapping the MLA.
Notably, Mamta today was handed a five-year jail term in a firing case in 2016 that took place outside a power plant in Gola, killing two.
Shahzada said Mamta was charged in various sections which are enough to understand the conspiracy. He said senior party leaders in Delhi were also informed about the conviction. The party is united on this issue and is with Mamta and her family.
Mamta’s husband Bajrang Mahto who came here with his two children said he will knock on the door of the high court. I will also follow the directives of the party high command, he added.
He said when Mamta went to jail for the first time, their daughter was only 6 months old at that time. “Now, my son, is 5 months old and my daughter is six years and again she is in jail. We will fight against this conspiracy,” he added in a press conference this evening at the congress office in town.
