Daltonganj, Dec.17: The information, education, and communication about the coronavirus have been a success even in the interiors of Palamu.Eligibles in the Ramgarh police station area and other parts of the Palamu district are coming forward to take their vaccine. This area is considered as the den and hotspot of naxals.
Women have outnumbered the men at the remote and interior areas in Palamu which suggests that paddy harvesting is either near being over or at that particular location, men are harvesting the paddy.
Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar said that today he met a goat grazer Bandhu Oraon, around 75 years old, who was alone in the field surrounded by the jungles. He had not taken any of the two shots but now feels like he should take it.
The CS asked him to visit the nearest vaccination site and he agreed.
The CS then went on to say that he met half a dozen head loaders of dry wood women who, seeing his official car, began to hide in the jungles fearing the car to be of some forest officials. These women head loaders feared that the forest officials would book them for taking the dry wood from the jungle.
The Civil surgeon said he along with district epidemiologist Dr Anup Kr Singh asked these women if they had taken the vaccine to which some of them said they had taken both the doses. Some women said their second dose is due next year.
33 vaccination teams rolled out for the naxal hit Ramgarh police station today.
Around 100 fresh recruits of the ANMs and GNMs after four days of marathon training and sensitizing about Covid vaccination have been pressed for the jabs administration, informed Dr Anil Kumar.
Two young and fresh ANMs were found vaccinating women at the St Ignatius middle school in the jungles of the Ramgarh police station.
The civil surgeon watched one of the two administering the injection. It was a perfect 90 degree administration of the needle of the syringe loaded with 0.5 ml of the vaccine, said the civil surgeon. The rollout was supervised by the civil surgeon and epidemiologist.
Dr Anup Kr Singh also informed that 36 passengers have travelled to Palamu from countries like Kuwait, Oman, Netherlands, UAE, Mauritius etc. All have been antigen tested and found negative. They would go for RTPCR after 8 days of their stay. The health teams are keeping a tab on these returnees.
