New Delhi: As Donald Trump edges closer to a second term in the White House, just three electoral votes short of the needed 270, congratulations and pledges of collaboration are already pouring in from world leaders, acknowledging a “new beginning” for the United States.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed optimism, envisioning stronger India-US relations. “As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability and prosperity,” he posted on X.

From China, spokesperson Mao Ning hoped for a “peaceful coexistence,” while Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskovcalled the US an “unfriendly country,” reserving judgment on Trump’s future actions.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed Trump’s return as a powerful renewal of the US-Israel alliance, describing it as a “historic return” and “a new beginning.”

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recounted his recent meeting with Trump, highlighting Trump’s commitment to a “peace through strength” approach and expressing hope for continued US bipartisan support for Ukraine.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer affirmed the UK-US “special relationship,” emphasizing shared values of “freedom, democracy, and enterprise.” He expects their partnership to thrive, particularly in areas like growth, security, and tech innovation.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz pledged Berlin’s cooperation with Trump for “prosperity and freedom,” while French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized a partnership based on “respect and ambition.”

Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese extended his congratulations, reaffirming the deep friendship and alliance between the two nations.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen underscored the EU’s bond with the US as more than just allies, describing it as a “true partnership” uniting 800 million citizens. “Let’s work together on a strong transatlantic agenda that keeps delivering for them,” she wrote.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte welcomed Trump’s impending leadership as crucial to keeping the alliance strong, pledging to advance NATO’s peace-driven mission together.

According to the Associated Press, Trump has secured 267 electoral votes, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris holds 224, putting Trump just three votes away from a decisive victory.
