Jamshedpur, Aug 12: A newly-married woman committed suicide by hanging at her in-laws’ house in Birsanagar near Telco at the small hours today, triggering a sensation in the locality.
Identified as C Saloni Naidu (23) was married to Ravi Singh Bhamra (26) after an affair a year ago, but she took the drastic step after celebrating the Raksha Bandhan on Thursday.
The police recovered the body and sent it to the MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem having registered a case of suicide.
Though Saloni had married initially going against the wishes of her parents, she would act more as a nurse for her husband at home than a wife.
Son of Balbir Singh Bhamra, Ravi is an epileptic and his left hand is paralyzed. As he remains physically unwell most of the time, the deceased would take care of his well-being as a nurse has to do for patients at any health hub.
Ravi used to look after his father’s tent-house business as his career by sitting at home.
Saloni committed suicide when her husband was the only one at home. Her father-in-law, mother-in-law and elder sister-in-law are out of the station for the past fortnight.
Officer in charge of Birsanagar police station Murtaza Ansari said to have taken a statement from Ravi in connection to the incident and confirmed it to be a case of suicide.
“Last night, Saloni had gone to one of her friends’ house at Birsanagar zone No 9 for tying ‘Rakhi.’ Late in the night, Saloni and her friend Vivek who she regarded as her brother had dinner together. Then Vivek returned home and sometime later, Saloni committed suicide having bolted the door of a room from inside,” said the OC while talking to lagatar24.com.
Ansari said Saloni’s parents who reside in Indore have been informed about their daughter’s suicide. He said Ravi’s parents were also informed, adding that the exact reason behind the suicide can be established only after interrogation of the family members concerned.
