12th Junior National Women’s Hockey Tournament: Jharkhand thrashes Assam as Pramodini scores hat-trick of goals

Ranchi, Mar 26: Jharkhand’s junior women’s team started the tournament with a bang after they defeated Assam 9-0 in the 12th Junior National Women’s Hockey Tournament being held at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. Jharkhand’s Pramodini Lakra scored a hat-trick.

Playing an aggressive game from the beginning, Lakra gave the team the lead in the 6th minute, after which the Jharkhand team scored nine goals in a row. The Jharkhand team scored four goals in the 1st quarter, two in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth quarter.

Lakra scored three goals in the 6th, 9th and 28th minute. Nikki Kullu scored two goals in the 36th and 48th minute, Deepika Soreng in the 7th minute, Elin Dungdung in the 14th minute and Rajni Kerketta in the 54th minute. Mahima Tete scored a goal from a penalty corner in the 22nd minute.

Hockey Jharkhand President Bholanath Singh congratulated the team for their stellar performance in the first match and wished them the best for the next match.

Manoj Konbegi, Vice President at Hockey Jharkhand has said that the gameplay of the girls has been excellent. “Scoring nine goals in a hockey game is a big thing and I congratulate the team for their excellent performance. Pramodini Lakra was excellent with her hattrick and I wish them the best for their next match,” he said.

Jharkhand will play their next match against Manipur on March 28.
