72 Rajya Sabha MPs retire; future generations will miss your experience, says PM Modi

New Delhi, March 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi bid farewell to the 72 Rajya Sabha members who resigned on Thursday, March 31. He claimed that members of Parliament’s experience was more valuable than academic knowledge.

“Our RS Members have a lot of experience. sometimes experience has more power than academic knowledge. We will say to the retiring members ‘come again’,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks at the farewell of 72 retiring Members of the Rajya Sabha.

“We have spent a long time in this Parliament. This House has contributed a lot to our lives, more than we have contributed to it. The experience gathered as a member of this House should be taken to all four directions of the country,” he added.

Jairam Ramesh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, P Chidambaram, Praful Patel, Sanjay Raut, Subramanian Swamy, Roopa Ganguly, MC Mary Kom, MJ Akbar are  among the prominent names retiring from Rajya Sabha.

Notably, every second year, one-third of the members of Rajya Sabha retire and the vacancies are filled up through elections and Presidential nominations.
