PM Modi unveils national emblem on top of new Parliament building

The bronze made structure weighs around 9,500 kg

New Delhi, July 11: On the roof of the new Parliament building, the National Emblem was cast and unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.

According to senior Central Public Works Department (CPWD) officials, the 6.5-meter-tall bronze emblem,  weighs around 9,500 kg took more than nine months to cast.

The PM spoke with the labourers (Shramjeevis) who are doing the task as well. Om Birla, the speaker of the Lok Sabha, Hardeep Singh Puri, a cabinet minister, and others were also present at the event.

“The structure weighs 9,500kg and is 4.4m in width. It has been cast at the top of the Central Foyer of the New Parliament Building. A supporting structure of steel weighing around 6,500kg has been constructed to support the Emblem,” said a senior CPWD official.
