Islamabad, Aug 2: In its ruling on the ‘illegal money’ matter on Tuesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had received the prohibited cash and sent PTI a show-cause notice.

The Commission discovered that 34 different countries contributed to the fundraiser. According to Geo News, these included the US, Australia, and the UAE. The PTI allegedly stole money from an American businessman, according to the ECP. The ECP noted the “unknown accounts” in its ruling and stated that hiding accounts is “a breach of the Constitution.” It also discovered that Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI, submitted a forged Nomination Form I.

The ECP made the decision to request a show-cause response from the PTI before the commission may keep the money it received. The ECP reportedly made public the cause list for the case on Monday. The reason list indicated that a three-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, who arrived at the office early in the morning, would deliver the decision.

The decision to release the ruling follows a Financial Times exposé that revealed how the PTI accepted funds from the Wootton Cricket Club, which is owned by Arif Naqvi, the founder of Abraaj. The money was raised through a charity match, and a prominent Arab donor also contributed a sizeable sum of money.

According to Geo News, the money was raised through a charity match, and a prominent Arab donor also contributed a sizeable sum. The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) urged an early pronouncement of the verdict after receiving ammunition from the FT report.

The election commission would announce the decision regarding foreign fundraising within the first week of August, according to ECP officials who spoke to Daily Jang.
