Ramgarh, Sept 5: Two girls drowned while bathing in the Argadda Damodar river under Ramgarh police station on Sunday afternoon. They were fished out from the river with the help of locals and were rushed to the CCL Naisarai Hospital for treatment but in vain. Villagers said that both the girls had come to their brother-in-law’s house, Argadda Niche Dhauda from Bermo, to celebrate Karma festival, five days ago. They have been identified as Chhoti Kumari (18) and Manisha Kumari (17).

While bathing in the Damodar river, they slipped and went deep in the water. The duo had gone along with Ankita (5), Nitesh (9) and Khushi (8). Seeing the girls drowning, they shouted for help and the people present around the river jumped into the river and took both the girls out.

Since the incident took place, there is a deep shock among the relatives of the deceased. Postmortem will be performed today at Ramgarh Sadar hospital’s postmortem house.
