Ranchi, Nov 15: Creating history, President Droupadi Murmu today landed at the birthplace of tribal icon Birsa and garlanded his statue at Ulihatu.
The president was accompanied by Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda, Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi and Minister of State for Women, Child Development and Social Welfare Joba Manjhi, who also paid tribute to ‘Dharti Aaba’ by garlanding his statue.
On this occasion, President Murmu also met the descendants of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
Proper security arrangements were made during the programme and common people were not allowed to reach Birsa’s birthplace during the presence of the president. Even journalists, willing to cover the first visit of the President at the place, were stopped about 10 km from the spot.
