Ranchi, Nov 28: Hearing a contempt petition in a matter related to high school teacher appointment, Supreme Court directed Jharkhand chief secretary to remain physically present before the court to reply.

The development took place today in the bench of Justice M.R Shah when a contempt petition filed by one Soni Kumar was listed for hearing.

Kumari had moved the Supreme Court saying that contrary to the order of the apex court the Jharkhand government and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) did not publish subject-wise and category-wise merit lists and cut-off of the last selected candidate while recruiting high school teachers.

Those representing Kumari in the apex court included senior advocate Ranjit Kumar, advocate Lalit Kumar Singh and Ravi Chandraprakash.

The case arose after the Jharkhand government through its advertisement number 21/2016 started the process of recruitment of high school teachers according to recruitment policy and made appointments. The Jharkhand High Court rejected the same.

The Supreme Court gave relief to the appointed people. Along with this, the state government was instructed to start the recruitment process on the vacant posts. But the state government started the recruitment process by changing the cut off marks.
