Dhanbad, April 21: The State Bar Council appointed election officer advocate Devisharan Sinha today announced that the biennial election of the Dhanbad Bar Association will be completed in 15 days.
“ Newly appointed three-member election officers as per the directive of the State Bar Council would take over charge from office- bearer of the outgoing committee of district Bar Association on Monday ( April 24) and begin the process of conducting the election,” said Sinha today.
The State Bar Council on Thursday announced three members committee comprising Devisharan Sinha, AC Mallik and Arun Kumar Tiwary to conduct the election of the Dhanbad Bar Association. The House of Bar Association had suggested 19 names of lawyers for selecting three members election officers on April 17. State Bar Council selected three of them.
Besides election officers, the State Bar Council has also appointed two member observers, advocate Sanjay Kumar Bidrohi and Parmeswar Mandal to monitor the election process and ensure a peaceful poll.
Earlier, the High Court had set up 5 members special committee to hold AGM (Annual General Meeting) on April 17 and send the names of three member election officers.
“ Our first task is to give the final touch to the voter’s list after taking charge from the outgoing committee. The list would be sent to State Bar Council for approval and thereafter we would start the poll process to complete as soon as possible,” said advocate Sinha.
Sinha, who is one of the senior-most lawyers, had been three times general secretary and one-time senior vice-president of the Bar Association. “ I know the sentiment of candidates and voters. So we would try to satisfy them by holding a transparent process of election,” he said.
The Election officer said that a writ in the court against the outgoing committee by a lawyer has nothing to do with the election process. That matter is different and that would not put up a legal hurdle in conducting the Bar poll, he added.
