Ranchi, Aug.26: Presenting an example of professional policing, the Godda police recovered all the ornaments looted from a jewellery shop and arrested the two involved in the loot with two firearms within an hour. One robber also died after he attempted to evade arrest by jumping in a water body.
The information regarding the loot reached the Mahagama police station at 1.15pm and the police recovered the looted ornament by 2.15pm.
Godda Superintendent of Police Nathu Singh Meena confirmed the success saying ‘villagers also extended a lot of support to ensure the arrest of the robbers. In fact, one of the robbers jumped into the water being afraid of villagers coming in support of the police.
It was getting around 1pm when half a dozen masked and helmet-wearing criminals carried out the robbery incident in broad daylight in an ornament shop located in Kesari Mohalla of Mahagama Bazar. During this, jewellery worth lakhs was looted.
The criminals overpowered Ajay Jaiswal, a businessman present in the shop, at gunpoint. During this, the dacoits injured Sanjay Jaiswal, another son of the businessman, by hitting him with the butt of a gun when he protested against the robbery.
“Police are making an attempt to arrest those who managed to escape,” a police official said.
