Karachi, Sept 29: Following a suicide blast on Friday in Pakistan’s Balochistan region, at least 52 people were killed and over 50 others were injured.
Near a mosque in Balochistan’s Mastung area, where people had gathered to commemorate the Prophet Muhammed’s birth anniversary, a powerful explosion occurred.
The explosion was described as “massive” by Atta Ul Munim, an assistant commissioner in Mastung.
The district administration stated that DSP Nawaz Gashkori of Mastung is one of the victims.
The injured persons have been sent to surrounding hospitals, where several of them are in critical condition.
No one has taken responsibility for the explosion. In a statement, the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) denied any participation.
This was the second massive explosion in the Mastung district this month. A bomb blast earlier this month injured numerous individuals, including Hafiz Hamdullah, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e Islam Fazl (JUI-F).
