New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a notification prohibiting the conduct, publication, and dissemination of exit polls between 7 AM and 6:30 PM on February 5, the day of the Delhi Assembly electionsand bypolls in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
The ban, issued under Section 126A(1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, applies to all forms of media, including print, electronic, and digital platforms. The notification also restricts the display of election-related content, including opinion polls, on electronic media during the 48-hour silence period before polling concludes.
The Delhi elections, along with bypolls in Uttar Pradesh’s Milkipur constituency and Tamil Nadu’s Erode (East) seat, fall under the same regulatory framework.

PM Modi’s Attack on AAP Ahead of Delhi Elections
With elections approaching, political parties have intensified their campaigns. On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), calling its governance in Delhi an “AAP-DA” (disaster).
PM Modi accused the AAP government of mismanaging Delhi for 11 years, alleging that the party has failed to deliver on its promises. He assured voters that if the BJP comes to power, it will ensure that no slum dwellings are demolished and all existing welfare schemes continue. He also warned that another five years of AAP rule would be a wasted opportunity for Delhi.
Delhi Assembly Elections: A Three-Way Battle
The Delhi elections will take place in a single phase on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8. The electoral battle in the national capital is set to be a three-way contest between the BJP, Congress, and AAP.
