New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal cast his vote in the Delhi Assembly elections on Wednesday morning, accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal and his elderly parents, Gobind Ram Kejriwal and Gita Devi, both of whom arrived in wheelchairs. The family voted at Lady Irwin Senior Secondary School in the national capital.
Kejriwal Urges Voters to Participate
Speaking to the media after casting his vote, Kejriwal expressed gratitude to his parents for making the effort despite their frail health.
👉 “My parents were very excited to cast their votes, and they have put in all their efforts to do that. I appeal to the people of Delhi to come out and cast their votes for the development of the city,” he said.
His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, also voiced confidence in the wisdom of Delhi’s electorate, stating:
👉 “People of Delhi are very intelligent. We trust them. They don’t tolerate ‘gundagardi’ [hooliganism]. We firmly believe that the people will make the right choice.”
Delhi Elections: A Crucial Battle
• Voting began at 7 AM across 70 constituencies, with over 1.5 crore eligible voters.
• Kejriwal is contesting from the New Delhi constituency, facing BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit.
• The elections are seen as a major test for AAP, which is seeking a third consecutive term.
• While AAP highlights its governance record, BJP and Congress are attempting to reclaim political ground in Delhi.
👉 “The one who works for Delhi will earn the votes of the people,” Kejriwal stated optimistically.
Voter Turnout Till 1 PM
By 1 PM, the overall voter turnout in Delhi stood at 33.31%, with North-East Delhi leading at 39.51%. The lowest turnout was recorded in Central Delhi at 29.74%.

Election-Day Tensions and Political Reactions
Amid tight security, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj alleged that Delhi Police tried to prevent voters from casting their ballots at a polling station in Chirag Delhi.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Manoj Tiwari, after casting his vote, expressed confidence in BJP’s victory.
The Delhi Assembly elections are shaping up as a three-way contest, with:
