New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal strongly condemned the attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, stating that while differences of opinion are natural in democracy, there is no space for violence. He expressed confidence that the Delhi Police would take appropriate action and wished for Gupta’s safety and well-being.

Kejriwal’s Strong Response

Kejriwal posted on X that the attack was “highly condemnable,” reiterating that opposition is part of democracy but violence cannot be tolerated. He expressed his belief that law enforcement will act swiftly and responsibly in handling the case.

AAP Delhi Chief’s Statement

AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj also voiced his disappointment, stressing that Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings emphasised non-violence. He criticised not just the attack on the Chief Minister but also police violence against SSC students, teachers, and farmers, calling such actions equally condemnable.

Recalling Past Incidents

Bharadwaj reminded that during an election campaign, Arvind Kejriwal himself had been attacked by a BJP supporter, and BJP leaders at the time dismissed it as public discontent. He clarified that AAP would not take a similar stance in Gupta’s case, stressing that “an attack on anyone is wrong,” and urging all political parties to stand united in condemning violence.
