Patna: Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has said that while Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may personally be honest, his ministers and senior officials are “looting crores” from the state’s people. Speaking to NDTV ahead of the assembly polls, the former poll strategist claimed that corruption under the current administration has reached unprecedented levels.

Accusations Against Ministers and Officers

Kishor alleged that JD(U) leader and minister Ashok Choudhary has acquired property worth ₹200 crore through questionable means, including routing funds via family-linked trusts. He also criticised Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary for allegedly misrepresenting his educational qualifications, questioning how he could claim a doctorate without clearing basic board exams. Kishor insisted his remarks were about transparency, not political mileage, saying the public deserved answers about how their leaders conduct themselves.

Political Context and Jan Suraaj’s Plans

Kishor dismissed claims that he was targeting individuals for attention, arguing that corruption stems from the top and directly affects citizens. He also challenged BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal’s warning about legal action, asserting that he was unafraid of threats. Confident about his party’s prospects, Kishor announced that Jan Suraaj would release its list of 233 candidates ahead of rivals and predicted a clear majority in the upcoming elections, ruling out a hung assembly.
