Bhagalpur: A four-lane road stretching roughly 67 km will be built in Bihar at a cost of Rs 1,720 crore, as part of several road projects being taken up to cut distances between districts and make travel easier for people.
Bhagalpur-Bhaljor Corridor to Benefit Bhagalpur and Banka
The new Bhagalpur-Bhaljor four-lane road will play a key role in easing movement for people in Bhagalpur, Banka and surrounding areas. It will form part of NH-133E, with the stretch between roughly the 36.600 km and 63.630 km marks near Bhaljor to be developed into a four-lane highway.
Project to Be Completed in Two Phases
In the first phase, the road from Bhagalpur to Kharhara will be widened to four lanes, while in the second phase, the Kharhara-to-Bhaljor stretch will be built. A 3-metre-wide divider will be constructed in the middle of the road, which is expected to ease congestion.
Tender Process Advanced, Land Hurdles Cleared
The tender process for the project has already moved forward, and obstacles related to land acquisition have been resolved. Preparations are under way to begin construction, with the administration and the National Highways department completing the necessary formalities. The road is expected to particularly improve access from Bihar to Jharkhand.
