New Delhi: In a shocking turn in the ongoing IPS officer suicide case, another Haryana policeman has allegedly taken his own life in Rohtak, accusing the late ADGP Y Puran Kumar of corruption in his final video. The deceased officer has been identified as ASI Sandeep Lather, who was posted with the cyber cell of Rohtak Police.

Support for Former SP, Allegations Against Senior Officer

In his final message, Sandeep expressed support for former Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarnia, calling him an “honest police officer.” Bijarnia was recently shunted out following the death of ADGP Kumar. The incident comes just hours after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi met Kumar’s wife and daughters, intensifying political attention on the case. Kumar had named 16 senior IAS and IPS officers in his suicide note, alleging harassment and holding them directly responsible for his death.

Earlier Tragedy and Expanding Investigation

Y Puran Kumar, who held the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), allegedly died by suicide at his Chandigarh residence last Tuesday. Police cordoned off the area, recovered the weapon, and launched a forensic investigation. Following his death, the Haryana government sent the state’s Director General of Police on leave and replaced Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarnia with Surinder Singh Bhoria.

Meanwhile, the FIR in Kumar’s case has been amended to include provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act after his wife, senior IAS officer Amneet P Kumar, requested the addition of Section 3(2)(v). Chandigarh IG Pushpendra Kumar, heading the six-member Special Investigation Team, confirmed the inclusion of the section, intensifying the legal probe into the allegations of caste-based discrimination and harassment raised in Kumar’s suicide note.
