Patna: The early trends of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 have brought a major political shock for the Mahagathbandhan (RJD-Congress-Left alliance), as the NDA — led by the BJP and JDU — surges far ahead, shattering all pre-election assumptions. The opposition’s hopes appear to be going up in smoke as the NDA secures commanding leads across the state.
NDA Turns The Tables, JDU Leads The Pack
According to the latest figures, JDU has emerged as the largest party, leading on 82 seats, followed by the BJP with 76 seats. Meanwhile, the RJD, once the single-largest party, is now trailing far behind with leads in only 37 constituencies. The LJP shows strength in 21 seats, while the Congress struggles with just 7, and the Left parties hold leads in 4. The HAM party also appears ahead in 4 constituencies.
Tejashwi Yadav’s Momentum Fizzles Out
The trends indicate that Tejashwi Yadav’s momentum has completely faded, with his party losing significant ground compared to previous elections. On the other hand, Nitish Kumar’s leadership appears stronger than ever. His JDU’s revival not only stabilises the NDA but also quashes speculation that the BJP might sideline him post-results.
Congress Faces Another Setback In Bihar
The Congress, once a major political force in the state, continues its decline, failing to make a mark this election. Political analysts suggest the trends reflect a complete consolidation of voters behind the NDA, making the Mahagathbandhan’s comeback nearly impossible.
