New Delhi: Nitin Nabin formally assumed charge as the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party on January 20 at the BJP headquarters, becoming the party’s 12th president. The declaration was made by BJP’s National Returning Officer K Laxman, who handed over the certificate of election on stage.
PM Modi’s Remark Draws Attention
Congratulating Nitin Nabin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi surprised party workers with a humble remark, saying, “Nitin Nabin ji is my boss, and I am his worker.” The statement was met with applause from the gathering and underscored the party’s emphasis on organisational discipline and collective leadership.
Senior Leaders Present at Ceremony
The event witnessed the presence of several senior leaders, including outgoing National President JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and other top BJP functionaries. The Prime Minister was also formally felicitated upon his arrival at the party headquarters.
Democratic Process Highlighted
Addressing BJP workers, PM Modi congratulated Nitin Nabin on being elected as the president of the world’s largest political party. He highlighted that the entire election process, from the smallest organisational unit to the national president’s post, was conducted in a fully democratic, transparent, and constitutional manner, reflecting the spirit of the BJP’s organisational ethos.
Tribute to Party’s Organisational Legacy
PM Modi praised the BJP’s organisational strength and recalled milestones such as the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee, the 100th birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and the centenary year of the RSS. He remembered leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Venkaiah Naidu, and Nitin Gadkari for expanding the party from “zero to the summit.”
Journey to Power Recalled
The Prime Minister specifically acknowledged Rajnath Singh’s leadership, under which the BJP formed its first full-majority government at the Centre. He also credited Amit Shah and JP Nadda for leading the party to consecutive victories and forming governments in several states.
