Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cautioned society against individuals who, under the guise of religion, are attempting to weaken Sanatan Dharma, urging people to remain vigilant against such deceptive forces.

Warning at Religious Ceremony in Haryana

Addressing a large gathering of saints and devotees at the idol consecration ceremony at Baba Nagewala Dham in Murthal, Sonipat, Yogi Adityanath said that some elements outwardly appear religious but internally work against the very principles of Sanatan Dharma. He compared such individuals to “Kaalnemi,” the mythical demon who disguised himself as a saint to mislead Lord Hanuman.

Statement Linked to Ongoing Religious Controversy

Although the Chief Minister did not name anyone directly, his remarks are being linked to the recent controversy involving Swami Avimukteshwaranand, who was stopped from proceeding on a chariot during Mauni Amavasya and later issued a notice questioning his claim to the title of Shankaracharya. Yogi’s comments have been widely interpreted in the context of this unfolding debate.

Emphasis on Conduct Over Appearance

Yogi Adityanath stressed that for yogis, saints, and ascetics, religion and the nation come above all else. He said a true ascetic owns no personal property, with Dharma as their true wealth and the nation as their pride. He emphasized that religion should be reflected through conduct rather than attire or rhetoric.

Call to Protect Spiritual and Natural Heritage

The Chief Minister also urged respect for symbols inspired by sages, saints, and scriptures, particularly emphasizing the importance of maintaining the purity and uninterrupted flow of rivers. He warned against allowing religious symbols and natural heritage to be polluted or misused under any pretext.
