Patna: RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav suffered a major setback as the Delhi High Court refused to quash the FIR and chargesheets filed against him in the alleged land-for-jobs scam.

Court Finds No Merit In Petition

The High Court dismissed Lalu Yadav’s plea, stating that the petition lacked substantial grounds for consideration. Justice Ravindra Dudeja rejected the request to cancel the FIR registered by the CBI and the three chargesheets filed in the case.

Relief Denied After Trial Court Setback

This comes shortly after a setback in the trial court as well. The Rouse Avenue Court had earlier dismissed pleas filed by Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi seeking access to over 1,600 documents that had not yet been presented by the investigating agency. The court observed that such demands appeared to be an attempt to delay the trial.

Allegations Date Back To Railway Tenure

The case pertains to the period between 2004 and 2009, when Lalu Yadav served as the Railway Minister. He is accused of granting railway jobs in exchange for land parcels allegedly acquired at undervalued prices.

Lalu Denies Charges, To Fight Case

Lalu Yadav and his family have denied all allegations, maintaining that the accusations are baseless. They have stated that they will continue to contest the case legally and present their defense in court.
