Begusarai: A junior engineer travelling on the Janasadharan Express was shot by unidentified criminals near Badlaghat station on the Khagaria-Badla railway section, triggering panic among passengers aboard the moving train. The injured engineer has been hospitalised and is undergoing treatment.

Victim Identified as Dev Kumar Gunjan From Godda

The injured man has been identified as Dev Kumar Gunjan, a resident of Godda district in Jharkhand, who works as a Junior Engineer at the Power Grid station in Jamui. According to information, he was travelling on the Janasadharan Express when unidentified miscreants opened fire on him near Badlaghat station, leaving him critically injured and causing him to collapse inside the train. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Sudden Firing Causes Chaos Among Passengers

Eyewitnesses said the attack happened so suddenly that no one had time to react. Following information from passengers, railway police and local police rushed to the scene and admitted the injured engineer to the nearest hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later referred to a private hospital in Begusarai, where he is currently being treated. His wife, Asmita Kumari, who serves as a Motor Vehicle Inspector in Supaul, rushed to the hospital along with other family members upon learning of the incident.

Railway Security Under Scanner Again

The broad-daylight shooting on a moving train has once again raised serious questions about railway security. Passengers questioned how criminals could easily carry weapons inside trains and carry out such attacks, raising doubts over passenger safety.

Police Investigation Underway

Police are investigating the case from multiple angles, including personal enmity, private disputes, and robbery attempts. Passengers are being questioned, and CCTV footage from railway stations is being examined. Several teams have been formed to track down the accused, and raids are underway at suspected hideouts, though the exact motive behind the attack remains unclear.
