Ranchi: All preparations have been completed for the Rath Yatra at Jagannathpur in Ranchi. Lord Jagannath will enter a period of seclusion today, Monday, after which devotees will not be able to have darshan for the next 15 days as religious rituals are performed within the temple premises.
Dress Code Issued for Jalabhishek
The temple committee and district administration have made comprehensive arrangements for the Rath Yatra, with security and devotee facilities fully in place. The temple committee has issued a dress code for the jalabhishek ceremony, requiring male devotees to wear dhoti and female devotees to wear saree. A tender process for organising the Rath Yatra fair is also expected to take place today, after which necessary facilities will be arranged for pilgrims.
Grand Rath Yatra on July 16
The grand Rath Yatra procession is scheduled for July 16, with a large number of devotees expected to participate. The administration has made special arrangements for traffic management, security, and crowd control.
Temple Has 334 Years of History
The worship of Lord Jagannath, Balbhadra, and sister Subhadra at Badka Garh in Dhurwa has been ongoing since 1691, when Aini Nath Shahdeo initiated the tradition. That tradition continues unbroken to this day. This year, devotees will have the opportunity to experience the grandeur of Badka Garh in a manner similar to the Puri temple, with new grilles installed at Mausi Badi to allow pilgrims to have darshan in an orderly queue.
