Pune: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has invited women to participate in the “Chhatron Ki Goonj” event scheduled for August 22 in Pune, Maharashtra, stating that the platform would provide women a space to discuss their experiences, concerns and challenges.
Event to Be Held at AISSMS College Ground
The event is set to take place at AISSMS College Ground in Pune. Gandhi revealed that he had earlier asked women members of his team about what it means to be an Indian woman and how society treats them.
Gandhi Describes Earlier Exercise with Team Members
Gandhi said he had conducted a small exercise in which each woman spoke for 20 to 40 minutes about what it feels like to be an Indian woman, how society treats them, and the positive and negative experiences they had encountered. According to Gandhi, this exercise helped him better understand women’s experiences, prompting him and his team to decide to open up the conversation to a wider audience.
Women to Be Asked About Societal Treatment, Fear and Violence
He explained that at the August 22 event, women would be asked to share their experiences regarding how society treats them, instances of intimidation, and violence they may have faced. While sharing this, Gandhi cited some of the responses he had received from women so far.

Inviting women in Pune to take part in the discussion, Gandhi said such conversations are essential to understanding and improving the condition of Indian women.
