New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a fresh swipe at opposition leaders by reviving his “dimagi Naxal” remark while addressing the centenary celebrations of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) in Delhi on Saturday, framing the term as a way of exposing the true character of his critics.
Modi Compares Remark to Homeopathic Treatment
Referring to his earlier Red Fort speech, Modi explained that he had introduced the “dimagi Naxal” phrase as what he described as a homeopathic pill, noting that homeopathic treatment often makes a condition appear worse before improvement sets in. He said that as soon as he introduced the term, all those he described as “dimagi Naxals” began emerging one after another, allowing the public to now witness the true nature of those promoting what he called this ideological illness.

Modi’s speech was aimed at engaging Gen-Z, outlining an aspirational vision for a developed India while citing past crises his government had navigated, urging students to reflect on the challenges of earlier years.
Modi Criticises Past Government’s Handling of Kedarnath Disaster and 2008 Financial Crisis
Modi recalled the 2013 Kedarnath disaster, criticising the previous government’s response as chaotic and directionless, stating that the entire administration had been shaken and unsure of how to act. He similarly criticised the earlier government’s handling of the 2008 global financial crisis, alleging it had lacked the courage to confront the situation directly, pushing India’s banking system to the brink of collapse.
PM Recounts Series of Global Crises Faced by His Government
Modi went on to detail the successive challenges his own government had confronted, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, the weaponisation of trade and supply chains, and the crisis in West Asia. He said that each time, critics had predicted India would not survive, with his opponents hoping he would be trapped or crushed, but claimed that the blessings of the Indian people carried enough strength to ensure that those wishing for India’s failure remained disappointed.
PM’s Earlier SRCC Visit in 2013 Also Drew Attention
Notably, Modi had visited SRCC in 2013 as Gujarat Chief Minister, with his address at the time gaining considerable traction on social media ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
