New Delhi: Ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a major blow as three of its MLAs, Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, Chetan Singh Jauramajra and Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, joined the BJP.
Joined in Presence of Satish Poonia
The three leaders took BJP membership at the party headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of Punjab in-charge Satish Poonia. Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon and Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva congratulated them on joining.
Resignations Followed AAP’s Candidate List
AAP had recently released a list of 40 candidates for the Punjab Assembly elections, after which internal friction began in the party. On Sunday, Sanour MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra and Samana MLA Chetan Singh Jauramajra resigned from the party’s primary membership. The next day, Monday, Amritsar North MLA and former IPS officer Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh resigned from the Punjab Assembly. In all, three AAP MLAs quit within two days and joined the BJP.
