NewDelhi : Elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir next year in 2022. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sushil Chandra has said this during the four-day visit of the Delimitation Commission. The Chief Election Commissioner said that 24 seats in PoK’s share will remain vacant. The delimitation will be completed by March 5. CEC Sushil Chandra said that the first full delimitation commission was constituted in the year 1981 which submitted its recommendation after 14 years in 1995.

J&K leaders meet commission
The National Conference (NC), People’s Conference, Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), Panthers Party, Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Apni Party and Bahujan Samaj Party were held in Srinagar. The leaders had met the commission at Hotel Lalit. In Jammu, delegations from BJP, Congress, National Conference and other parties met the commission and demanded a free and fair delimitation process.
The CEC said that the districts in the constituencies as well as the tehsils are intertwined with each other. All this indicates that the public has to face trouble. CEC Chandra said that after preparing a draft keeping in mind all the demands and recommendations, it will be made public so that people can give their opinion. After this the final draft of the delimitation will be prepared.
The commission met many people in Kashmir, Pahalgam, Kishtwar and Jammu
Chandra said that the topography of Jammu and Kashmir is different. Said there are hard roads. People live in far flung areas. Their attention was not kept in the delimitation earlier, but this time we have prepared our draft and the voice of people from every section and region is included in it. He said that we have to bring it completely among the people, we have spoken to the Chief Secretary to deploy a nodal officer for this so that if people have questions, they can be resolved.
