Jamshedpur, Oct 11: The East Singhbhum district administration came out with a traffic management plan which will be implemented for the five festive days beginning on Mahashasthi today.
The plan aims to ensure smooth movement of heavy commercial and private vehicles from October 11 till immersion on October 15.
The plan, drawn up by the district traffic department suggests that the movement of heavy vehicles will remain restricted in the steel city from 11 am to 4 am from October 11 till October 14.
On October 15, the day of immersion, the movement of heavy vehicles will remain restricted from 5 am to 11 pm.
During the four days between October 11 and 14 heavy vehicles entering and leaving the city will be allowed only from 4 am to 11 am.
During the restriction period, heavy vehicles seeking to enter the steel city need to be parked in the Transport Nagar in Mango.
Vehicles found parked on the Marine Dive will be penalised.
Long-distance buses have been exempted from the restrictions and will operate as usual.
“We have given seven-hour relaxations from 4am to 11 am for movement of heavy vehicles so that Industrial activity is not hampered,” said a senior traffic constable posted at Bistupur.
Pillion riders will have to use helmets apart from masks.
Parking zones have been set up across the city, and several important roads will become one-way.
