New Delhi, Nov.17: A jatha of Indian Sikh pilgrims entered into Pakistan today to pay respect at the Gurudwara Darbar Sahib through the reopened Kartarpur corridor.

“Indian Sikh pilgrims warmly welcomed by Pakistan on their arrival through Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, today,” Pakistan High Commission in India tweeted.

Opening of historic Kartarpur Corridor by PM Imran Khan two years ago is a practical manifestation of interfaith harmony and respect for minorities.

According to the high commission, Pakistan is looking forward to welcome devotees from India for Baba Guru Nanak’s birthday festivities.

Earlier today, a jatha of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) left for Pakistan via the Kartarpur corridor to pay obeisance at the Gurudwara Darbar Sahib and other Gurudwaras.

“We’ll be gone for nine days. We’ll go to Kartarpur Sahib, Nankana Sahib, Dera Sacha Sauda, Dera sahib, and Dera sahib “Gruvinder Singh, a pilgrim, expressed his thoughts.

“We are overjoyed. We appreciate the government’s decision to unblock the passage “another pilgrim remarked.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the passageway was closed.

The 4.7-kilometer long visa-free corridor connects the Indian border with Pakistan’s Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. It started operation in 2019.
