Dumka, Nov.23: The Civil Surgeon (CS) of Dumka, Bachha Prasad Singh, on Tuesday has constituted a team to probe the death of an eight month pregnant woman who allegedly died after given the first dose of Covid vaccination.

The move, however, follows the submission of a complaint submitted by Jutin Murmu belonging to Kolaibadi village under Shikaripara police station of the district before the local Block Development Officer (BDO) Santosh Kumar Choudhary.

He claimed that his pregnant wife died the same night when she was vaccinated by the health department staffs at a customer service centre of a bank where she had gone to draw money on November 17.

“My wife started developing complications the same night when she had been vaccinated against Covid and died along with the eight months fetus at the Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH) in Dumka the very next morning,” Jutin alleged in his complaint demanding stern action against the health department staffs and a suitable compensation.

The CS, meanwhile, said that there was no question of death of the lady due to Covid vaccination which is equally safe for the pregnant women.

“Complications of Covid vaccination, if there are any, are developed within half an hour of the jab when the vaccinated persons are kept under observation which is not the case pertaining to the deceased woman,” the CS said adding however, a probe team headed by the acting chief medical officer (ACMO) Dr. A M Soren to submit the report by Wednesday.
