Daltonganj, Dec.4: WHO Surveillance Medical Officer Mirtunjay Singh has urged all the 2 lakh+ first dose takers of Covid vaccines in Palamu not to miss the second dose if their due dates have come or have passed long over.
The WHO official said that these people should understand the gravity and importance of the second dose when it is due or long overdue.
“We are thankful to all those who have completed their vaccination but we are worried about those eligible who have not taken any of the two doses so far and those who are giving a toss to their second dose,” he said.
Despite the fact that the ‘Ghar-Ghar Dastak’ programme is underway to identify unvaccinated and inadequately vaccinated people, the number of people who skip their second dosage long after it is due is increasing in the region. The WHO official commented on this, saying, “This is a great challenge to all of us to get the truant first-dose vaccine takers to get the second jab.”
Palamu district epidemiologist, Dr Anup Kr Singh, said: “We have more than 2 lakh of the first dose takers ducking their second dose despite their due dates being over since long.”
He said that he along with the Civil Surgeon Palamu, Dr. Anil Kumar, is trying hard to lessen this growing gap between the first dose and the second dose.
