Dhanbad, Jan 11: Dhanbad has achieved a 200 percent recovery rate in a single day for the first time in the recent 24 hours in the third wave of the Covid pandemic, despite new Covid cases being recorded every day,

According to official data from the District Disaster Management (DDM), the district documented 104 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours till Monday night test reports, however 210 affected people were released from the hospital after recovering from infection, which is a record.

“This was the first time in the third wave of the pandemic that the single-day recovery rate was double than the number of new cases on Monday. This is the outcome of prompt identification of positive individuals and prompt treatment at the dedicated Covid facility,” said the district health department’s official requesting anonymity.

Dhanbad’s recovery achievement is significant as Ranchi recorded 1,590 new cases in the last 24 hours, with 841 being discharged from the hospital. On Monday, 923 new cases were reported in Jamshedpur (East Singhbhum), while 172 were recovered.

The official said that the district has achieved a double recovery rate after a continuous surge in new cases during last week. As per official data, 199 new cases  found on January 9 and 184 recovered.

On January 8, 190 new cases were registered and 167 were discharged from the hospitals.

On January 7, the district recorded 176 new cases and only 131 were discharged.

On January 6, the recovery rate was worse as only 78 infected persons recovered against recovery of 164 new cases.

“With this record recovery, active cases in the district have come down to 511 from 712 cases. DDM has facilities of 382 oxygen supported beds in hospitals in which only 35 are occupied while 345 are available. 45 ventilator beds at hospitals are also available”, said the official.
