Sukma, Jan 18: Two Maoists were killed in a clash between Telangana Greyhounds and Maoists along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border on Tuesday.

Greyhounds is a police special forces unit of the police departments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Greyhounds are experts in counter-insurgency operations against terrorists such as Naxalites and Maoists.

Ilmidi and the Usur police station area in Chhattisgarh were involved in an altercation in the forests. The Maoists who were killed were found with a Light Machine Gun (LMG) INSAS and an SLR rifle.

“An exchange of fire took place at the border with Chhattisgarh. Operations are still on. Once we have more details, it will be shared,” said Mulugu Superintendent of Police (SP) Sangram Singh Patil Ganapatrao.

The Greyhound team from Telangana’s Mulugu came across the rebels in the Usur forest range in Chattisgarh’s Bijapur town. Operational searches and combing are underway.
