Jharkhand govt plans to set up ICT labs, smart classes within six months

Ranchi, Feb 27: The Jharkhand government is all set to set up Information and Communication Technology (ICT) labs in 2000 government schools in the state. Department of School Education and Literacy Secretary Rajesh Kumar Sharma while talking about it has said ICT labs setups will be developed in semi-urban areas wherein children of both rural and urban regions will benefit from them.

Explaining further plans, Sharma said, ”Along with this, the state has other plans for around 405 Aadarsh Vidyalaya s which will be getting updated labs. The state will make these labs 30 seaters for better accommodation of students.’

The Soren government is also looking into setting-up smart classes in around 1000 schools and double smart classes in a total of 457 schools.

Notably, around 10 lakh students are hoped to benefit from the ICT labs. Along with this, thousands of job opportunities will also be available. Education Secretary Sharma said that children studying in government schools will also do better in the field of computers through the ICT Lab setups. Thousands will also have an opportunity for computer-related employment every year with these labs.

Meanwhile, the total amount to be spent by the state government for the above-mentioned setups is yet to be released; however, it is believed that the setup will take around six months to be ready for use.
