New Delhi, March 23: Wang Yi, China’s foreign minister is expected to visit Delhi in the coming days. Since the clash along the Line Of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh two years ago, this would be the first visit by any top Chinese leader. However, neither party has confirmed the visit in writing.
Since the spring of 2020, when PLA soldiers invaded various sites in Ladakh, an unprecedented conflict in the Galwan Valley resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian and Chinese soldiers, relations between New Delhi and Beijing have been strained.
Both countries’ militaries have had three rounds of discussions so far with little success.
Notably, Wang Yi and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar met twice after the incident – in Moscow in September 2020 and Dushanbe in September 2021.
