Ranchi, April 11: The University Grant Commission – National Eligibility Test (NET) 2022 exams for the December 2021 and June 2022 cycles are to be held in the first or second week of June 2022, University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Jagdesh Kumar tweeted on Monday.

The exam dates are yet to be finalised and will be announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) soon.

Notably, UGC-NET determines the eligibility of candidates applying for the roles of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges.

The exam is usually conducted twice a year, but the cycles have been merged because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, in 2021, the two cycles of UGC-NET December 2020 and June 2021 were merged and conducted in computer-based test mode in three phases between November 20 and January 5 in a similar manner. The first phase was held from November 20 to December 5. The second was held from December 24 to 27, and the third was held on January 4 and 5, 2021.

Out of 1,26,6,509 registered candidates, 6,71,288 appeared and only 52,857 candidates had qualified last year.
