PM Modi inaugurates WHO-Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar

Gujarat, April 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the WHO-Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) in Gujarat’s Jamnagar.

“I’m grateful to Dr Tedros (WHO-DG) & thank him on behalf of every Indian. He made us feel ‘Triveni’ in a way and  touched our hearts by speaking in Gujarati, Hindi, English,” said PM Modi at WHO-Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

“I’ve known Dr Tedros for a long time & every time we have met, he has mentioned his learnings from his Indian teachers with such prestige, expressed his sentiments with such cheer, that his affection for India is visible in the form of an Institute today,” he added.

At the occasion, PM Modi was joined by WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, state Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Union AYUSH Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

Meanwhile, PM of Nepal and Bhutan congratulates Indian government for the initiative.

“On this occasion, I congratulate, the Indian govt and WHO for the initiative. As global programs continue to increase the role of traditional medicines is imp in ensuring holistic health care. Nepal & India are home to this biodiversity,” said Nepal PM Sher Bahadur Deuba.

“I believe traditional medicine complements allopathic treatment in offering wholesome healthcare. It is time-tested and plays a vital role in the healthcare system of the 21st century,” said Prime Minister of Bhutan Lotay Tshering.
